Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about using Itravy to plan smarter, more rewarding travel.
Getting Started
What is Itravy?
Itravy is a luxury travel platform that helps you get the most value from your credit card points and hotel loyalty programs. We analyze thousands of hotels across Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, and Accor to surface the redemptions that deliver the best cents-per-point (CPP) value — so you can experience luxury destinations without paying luxury prices.
Is Itravy free to use?
Our core tools — destination guides, hotel comparisons, and the points calculator — are entirely free, no account required. Travy, our AI travel concierge, is also free to use with a daily limit.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required. You can browse all destinations, use the calculator, read guides, and chat with Travy without signing up.
I'm completely new to points and miles. Where should I start?
Start with our CPP beginner guide — it explains the single most important concept in points travel in plain language. Then tell Travy what credit cards you have (or are considering), and it will show you exactly what destinations and hotels are within reach.
Travy — Your Luxury Travel Concierge
What is Travy and how does it work?
Travy is your luxury travel concierge. Tell it your points balance, preferred destinations, travel dates, and preferences, and it will recommend the best hotel redemptions, transfer strategies, and trip plans tailored to you. Think of it as a knowledgeable friend who happens to be obsessed with finding the best luxury stays on points.
Can Travy book hotels for me?
Travy provides recommendations, CPP analysis, and links to the relevant loyalty program's booking page — but the actual booking is done directly on the hotel program's website (Hyatt.com, Marriott.com, etc.). This ensures you get all elite benefits, earn stay credits, and have full control over your reservation.
How accurate are Travy's recommendations?
Travy's advice is based on our database of 3,800+ hotels with regularly updated pricing snapshots. However, programs with dynamic pricing (Marriott, Hilton, IHG) can change rates daily, so we always recommend verifying the live points price on the hotel program's website before transferring any points. Travy's CPP figures represent recent averages, not guaranteed real-time rates.
Points, CPP & Redemptions
What is CPP and why does it matter?
CPP (cents per point) measures the value you get from each loyalty point. It's calculated by dividing the cash rate of a room by the points required. For example, a $1,200/night room that costs 30,000 points = 4.0¢ per point. Since most credit card points are worth ~1¢ as cash back, anything above 1.0 CPP means you're getting outsized value from a points booking. Read our full CPP guide for benchmarks by program.
What's considered a "good" CPP?
It depends on the program. For Hyatt, the median is ~1.9¢, so anything above 2.0¢ is solid and 3.0¢+ is exceptional. For Hilton, the median is ~0.4¢, so 0.6¢+ is already a great redemption. Context matters — a 1.5¢ Hilton redemption is outstanding, while a 1.5¢ Hyatt redemption is below average. Our program comparison page breaks this down for every major chain.
How often are your hotel prices and CPP values updated?
We regularly update our database of 3,800+ hotels and 23,000+ price snapshots. For programs with dynamic pricing, we sample rates across multiple dates and seasons to produce reliable averages. That said, live rates can fluctuate — always confirm the exact points cost on the hotel program's website before making a transfer, especially for Marriott, Hilton, and IHG properties.
Which loyalty programs do you cover?
We cover six major hotel programs: World of Hyatt, Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, IHG One Rewards, Wyndham Rewards, and Accor Live Limitless (ALL). On the credit card side, we track transfer paths from Chase Ultimate Rewards, Amex Membership Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, Capital One Miles, and Bilt Rewards. See the full breakdown on our Points Calculator page.
Should I transfer my credit card points to hotel programs?
Only when the CPP value clearly beats your alternative (usually 1.0–1.25¢ for cash back or portal bookings). The golden rule: never transfer points speculatively. First, find the specific hotel and dates you want. Confirm award availability and the points price on the program's website. Only then should you initiate the transfer. Most transfers are instant or take a few minutes, so there's no need to transfer in advance.
Tools & Features
How does the Points Transfer Calculator work?
Enter the credit card currency you hold (Chase UR, Amex MR, etc.) and the destination you're interested in. The calculator shows you every transfer path available, the resulting CPP value for each hotel, and flags any active transfer bonuses that could boost your value. It's the fastest way to compare your options before committing points. Try it on our Calculator page.
What are the destination guides?
Each destination guide covers a specific location — Maldives, Bali, Tokyo, Bora Bora, and more. Inside you'll find every hotel bookable with points, CPP values for each, the best transfer strategy for your credit card currency, recommended visit duration, best travel months, and curated activities. It's everything you need to plan a points-optimized trip in one page.
What are transfer bonuses and where do I find them?
Transfer bonuses are limited-time promotions where credit card issuers offer 15–40% extra points when you transfer to a partner program. For example, a 30% Amex-to-Hilton bonus means 100K Amex MR becomes 260K Hilton points instead of the usual 200K. We track active bonuses on our Calculator page and cover the best ones in our deal alerts. Subscribing to our newsletter is the fastest way to hear about new bonuses.
Trust & Transparency
How do you make money?
Through affiliate commissions. When you apply for a credit card through one of our links and are approved, we may earn a referral fee from the card issuer. This is the standard model for points and travel advisory sites. It never costs you anything extra, and our recommendations are always based on genuine value — not which card pays us the most.
Do affiliate relationships influence your recommendations?
No. Our hotel recommendations are driven by CPP data and verified pricing, not partnerships. We frequently recommend Hyatt (the best value program) even though Hilton and Marriott cards tend to pay higher affiliate commissions. Read our full disclaimer for details.
Where does your data come from?
We pull points pricing directly from hotel loyalty programs and cash rates from official hotel websites. We sample across multiple dates and seasons to produce representative CPP averages. Program terms, transfer ratios, and bonus promotions are monitored and verified regularly. For a detailed breakdown, see our methodology on the About page.
Practical Questions
Can I use Itravy for flights too?
Our primary focus is hotel redemptions, where we believe we add the most value. That said, some of our guides cover flight booking strategies — like how to fly to the Maldives with miles — and Travy can suggest airline transfer options when relevant to your trip plan.
I have points in multiple programs. Can you help me plan across all of them?
Absolutely. Tell Travy your full points portfolio — for example, "I have 120K Chase UR, 80K Amex MR, and 50K Hilton" — and it will analyze the best combination across all your balances for your desired trip. This cross-program optimization is one of the things Travy does best.
How do I stay updated on deal alerts and transfer bonuses?
Subscribe to our free weekly newsletter — we cover new transfer bonuses, award chart changes, and hidden sweet spots before they're widely known. No spam, ever, and you can unsubscribe with one click. You'll find the signup form at the bottom of any page on the site.
I found an error or have a suggestion. How do I reach you?
We appreciate it! Reach out through our contact page. If you've spotted a pricing error or an outdated data point, let us know and we'll update it promptly. Community feedback is one of the ways we keep our data accurate.
